Queretaro Mexico Mission Week 61

Thanksgiving Week

Well mommacita, it sounds like you had quite the week! That would be some amazing blessings there! And Coley looks pretty dang sharp in his suit! And Annie looks a bit too happy with her gifts. I am still happy with the branch president. ALSO! Monday night I got a little sick. We were visiting a member family, and I had just finished fasting and ate some pretty greasy food. And my stomach wasnt exactly up for the challenge. So we entered in and then asked if I could use her bathroom. I entered in so fast I couldnt turn on the light and started throwing up in the sink............ that combination was NOT pretty. The good thing is I feel way better!  but I was in the bathroom for a good hour. 10 minutes puking, 50 minutes cleaning ;) hahaha.

Queretaro Mexico Mission Week 60

Well, not exactly. One sister did get changed out of our district and the flores are going home. But outside of that, we are staying! It will be super weird without them. Tonight we are going to have a family home evening with the branch to say goodbye to the missionary couple. Tears will be shed, and it will be very sad. But they are happy and excited to go. We have a couple baptisms coming up, not too sures, but we will see.

This past saturday we had a missionary activity and it was super legit!! It was called flight to Hawaii and we gave everyone some leis and told them to sit down. We put on a projector and then we started up a video of an airplaned taking off, then out of nowhere they all crashed and it went dark. A sister got up, told them that they had all died and unfortunately they could not go back to Earth. We had a speed judgement and they all went to different glories. We skipped the spirit world and we were in charge of the telestial kingdom. We just made it dark and terrible and then we ourselves got dresed in black. We did it good, because nobody wanted to go back to our kingdom, nobody had fun. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! Everyone had a lot of fun and learned a lot.

Nothing more to report, I am doing great, excited for this next change with Elder Estrada. A little sad to see the missionaries go, but that is how the cookie crumbles right? I love you guys and miss you a ton. Peace!

The zone conference was pretty good, we also had interviews. It was the fastest interview of my life, 2 minutes in total. But thats good that I don't have any problems! I freaked out a little bit when I saw the wedding invitations. It is pretty crazy, but they look amazing, make sure to send me one alright?. We have our new branch president and I am pretty happy with the choice. He is a member very strong in the church, and he will be great for the branch. They couldn't have chosen someone better. This is when it is great to remember that the Lord always has been preparing someone until the time for them to be called has come.

love you and miss you! Stay strong in the faith!!

Training is going good, and I am feeling pretty good. I will be giving the first baptismal interview of my mission tonight, so that is pretty exciting! Yesterday was the last meeting with President Flores, and we were all crying. A LOT! When they got to the branch, there was only 20 members that attended, and that was a maximum. It was normally 10 members and there was a lot of times when the chapel wasnt open Sunday, because nobody came. So it was on the downside. Now, 80 people are attending regularly!! They have done miracles.
That is awesome about the Annie's wedding!! The time is coming closer!! DUNN DUNNNNNNN DDDDDDDDDDDUUUUUNNNNNNNNNNN!! Actually, its more like Hallelujah!
The investigators are there, just that they have to be better prepared to be baptized. The comp and I are doing good, he is getting better everyday! we are pretty excited because the branch has improved a lot and the whole attitude is one of progress. It is going to keep going strong. We have been visiting a couple that have been members for a while, but inactives. They are 100% active now and told us they want to get married in the temple!!! We all cried with them that night. It was one of the greatest nights of my mission. It was almost better than a baptism!
All we are doing is visiting members a lot to get them ready and answering their questions and doubts. That is our game plan.  Love you guys and miss you a bunch!!! BYE!

I am doing great, got 2 baptisms and everything turned out great!!! :D It was a pretty great week. We will be getting our new branch president in 2 weeks  and President Mejorada told he was going to come!!! It is going to be super sad to see them all leave. I already decided to ask President if I can hug Sister Flores, she is insanely awesome and has been our mom here on the mission. We had the last testimony meeting with the Flores here and Sister Flores cried of course but what really surprised me is that President Flores cried!! He is a super tough guy, ex military, and he gave the greatest testimony. All of us were crying.

Nothing much happened, We played soccer with all the kids today as usual and everything is super calm. Oh, except for the fact that we left our cell phone on the bus!!! We got down and after us came a sister that we knew, and she told us that we left our cell phone in there. LIKE YOU COULDNT GRAB IT FOR US! So she told us this only AFTER the bus pulled away, so we started running after it, but it was all for naught. So we flagged down a taxi, explained our situation, and started on a high speed pursuit (well, as fast as you can go in Mexico). We arrived before the bus at a stop, but the bus went another route, off we went again. And when all hope was lost, when we had pulled over and got out of the car, there was the bus!!! We asked the driver and he gave us the phone!! Can someone say miracle?! HECK YEAH!! We contacted the taxi guy, and he was super nice and we invited him to church. It was pretty intense.

Nothing else mommacita! I love you and miss you!!! BYE!

I have great news and good news. Yep. Thats right. NO BAD NEWS!!! HAHAHAHAHA Great news is that Lucina got baptized and everything worked out ok. The hurricane did absolutely nothing, so that in and of itself was a miracle. We got some rain and that was it. It wasnt even a lot! Elder Dreesen (the assistant to the president) called me to tell me that you guys called ;) it was a nice reminder to know that my family still loves me.

The training is A-ok and I feel like I finally know what to do. It was a bit stressful with the baptism but he did his best and I learned some more things about him. He is going to be a great missionary. Him and his brother are the only members in his family and he got baptized 4 years ago. He is 20 years old and he misses his family a lot but he has the right reason to be here. We will be having another baptism this week hopefully! About Halloween, all that they say here is that it is of the devil and that it shouldnt exist because pagan devil worshippers made it. So that would be a no. They do recognize Day of the Dead, Which is the beginning of November and it is a little similiar but not much. I just want lots of photos, and that is my only request!

Unfortunately the usb to the computer doesnt work so I cant send pictures. i love you and miss you a ton!!

Well Familia, bigger news first! I got the package mommacita! yes!!  It was exactly what I wanted and more!! I love you guys!! Oh, and my greenie is doing pretty good! This week has been easier than I thought it would be, seeing as how Elder Estrada is from El Salvador and already knows Spanish. It is a little bit easier than my beginning and we get along pretty great, but he was kind of overwhelmed at the start and I helped to slowly get used to it. I know have way more respect for my trainer and the amount of patience that he had with me! I have been patient with him and have helped him feel at home. He already jokes with me and it is going pretty good.He is a bit quiet but has improved a lot in this first week.

He is pretty hard on himself but I told him how I was on the mission and he is already doing way better than I did. With that he felt better. News on the area, we will be having a baptism this week and the next week!!  So I am pretty excited. Our branch president is now delegating me a freak ton of responsability and is using me a lot more, so you could say that the relationship between everybody is improving. The branch is so strong now and I am pretty proud of the work that all of us have done. I do feel a bit bad for Elder Estrada, as he is a greenie and when I went to go pick him up, the president told him that I would be the busiest out of all the mission during this change  and that he would have to help me a lot because we will have a change of branch presidents and he is companions with the district leader and that I am also training. President told him that I would practically be the mission and branch president in my area. We will also be helping the branch president in his new roles and we still don't even know who it is going to be!  His face wasnt exactly something that said excited. hahaha but I feel like I am ready for this change and am actually pretty excited.

Thats all I got to report.  I love you guys and peace out!!

Well family, the transfers came!!!! Elder Sivila went to Queretaro!!! We were super surprised at that because it was his last transfer and we had such little time in the area. But he was kind of upset because he said he really wanted to finish in the area with me. It seems like the Lord had other plans for him. So he got sent to Queretaro and I am going to be training and still be the DL here in Dolores!! I am actually writing you from an internet cafe here in Queretaro and I will be getting my greenie tomorrow! No idea who it is, but it is better like that.

I will be going to the office tomorrow so I will most likely get your package then. And that is pretty much what I expected of the wedding planning! hahahahaha but it will all be worth it in the end. We have a baptism for next week, we moved it because we wanted all the ward to be there. And we have another one planned the 31st, so we will see what happens with that. I hope that I can be a good trainer because I feel a little bit nervous to be training, even though I am pretty sure I am prepared. That is about it, tell Cole to keep it up, and tell him that he (Coach Walheim) yelled at us too when I was in his weight class, so I know how it feels more or less.

Nothing else, I am pretty excited and nervous for tomorrow. We are staying in the secretaries house tonight so we will not be sleeping most likely! And we will feast with pizza!!! Thats about it, I love you and will keep you guys updated.

They are officially in love with me now and they want to bring us everywhere, today they brought us to a lake and bought us fish, so that was pretty cool!!! And they will be leaving with my companion next transfer! He is pretty nervous to go home. Tell grandma and grandpa that I say Hi and I love them!!! I cant send pictures today, something with the computer (Mexico) but next week!! Conference was cool! But I am still kind of out of it, the thing with Annie and all. As you might have heard, I will be completing a year in 3 days. I am sure that is the topic of all the conversations and that the people of Gilbert are anxiously awaiting the arrival of their king. UNFORTUNATELY, this guy wants to be on the mission another year and am super excited for this next one. i am pretty excited for this next half and am excited to improve even more. Everything is going pretty good here, we are planning for some baptisms the 17th so I hope those will turn out!

We have general conference this weekend and i want you guys to go with a question there. You should all write down a question of your soul that you have. Something that you feel like you need to know or hear. Something of inspiration, whatever THing!! Also, listen, really LISTEN to all 4 sessions of general conference. I know it is hard, but when you do that, I promise that your question will be answered. At the end of the conference, you should write down the answer that you got and then keep it forever. Many times in our life we take things for granted. We have Apostles and a living Prophet that reveals to us the will of God, and we complain that we have to listen to him! WHAT?! That is something that I finally understood here on the mission, and it is something that I want you guys to know too. Dont complain about watching General Conference (Cole, Sam, pay attention guys), when many people dont even know about the restored gospel! You guys are super blessed, so please be grateful for what you got ok?

i love you guys and miss you! I pray for you every night! Sorry i dont have a lot to say! But Still love you guys!

Everything is super calm here. Independence week was kind of psychotic!! There was a freak ton of drunk people and a carnival opened this week and there are bands that play there every night until 4 o clock. You can imagine how awesome it is. The crazy people here had a really fun time and I got a fun story out of it! So Tuesday Elder Sivila and I were walking down the street and out of nowhere these people in a really nice car pulled up next to us and they asked me if I knew where was the bus that took them to Cancun. So I said no, I have no idea. So then they asked me if i like to be drunk and do stupid things. (that is a literal translation). I obviously said no and then they insisted I get in the car and head to Cancun with them. I said no thank you again and that is about the time when I realized the everyone in the car was hammered and the girl in the passenger seat had a huge can of beer with a little sippy straw. They asked again and asked if I was sure and I said yes. I wished them good luck on their journey and started walking. Elder Sivila was on the other side of a car and couldnt hear us, so he wasnt following very well, so when he saw me walking he yelled ¨next time¨ They heartily agreed as they burned rubber and swerved into the traffic. I am now obligated to get into the car to Cancun next time they pass by thanks to my companion.

I feel pretty comfortable here and the food here is pretty good, not weird at all. They just eat a lot of fruit and I am not a fan. ugh. But being DL isnt that big of a difference and I have enjoyed it so far. My comp is going home next transfer so he is kind of worried about leaving the mission in a good way, so we are working hard. I am pretty happy with what I have accomplished here on the mission and I have changed a ton. Might not even recognize me when I get back!! hahahaha But I dont feel like you people! and I just started staring and I honestly did not feel like they were my people!! I DONT KNOW WHO I AM!!! But I am the point where I think Americans are weird. So it is a bit different you can say. Seeing blond people here is super weird. That pretty much sums up at what point I am on my mission. I love you guys and miss you. Don't worry, you will always be my people.

Queretaro Mexico Mission Week 50

Hola Familia,

The Mexico temple dedication? Yeah, WE WATCHED THAT! It was awesome because we got to see all 3 sessions and I will tell you know every session is completely different!! It was super cool to see it. My companion and I are doing great, still getting along, I got a photo of him in his sombrero. The branch is doing alright, the President, Elder Flores from the missionary couple will be leaving this November, so they are getting ready to leave the branch in good hands. SIster Flores is pretty sad and cries a lot now. We have been trying to help them improve the ward. Good news of our area, we always have a bunch of contacts. Bad news is that a ton of them are crazy. Literally. I dont know what is the deal with that!! They always want to tell us how they have their own religion and want nothing to do with the church, BUT they do want a pamphlet. Yeah, don't get that.

And, Coley is way too young to be holding girls hands!! He will always be 12 in my eyes and he looks gynormous in his uniform with Ann!!! He is a man! As long as he doesn't kiss any girls I am good with that.  I also got your package mom!!  THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I LOVED IT! It turns out that an Elder who wasn't in my zone took my package by mistake, and that is why it went 3 months undetected. The only reason I had it is because we went to Queretaro to have a meeting with the President and we stayed in Celaya  with the zone leaders and there was my package!! It was awesome, just that when we were going there, we were fasting!!!! I opened it, saw rice krispie treats and honey buns and just said dang it! But, I was actually the only one fasting, because my companion has to eat and take pills because he is sick in the stomach, and so  I gave some to everyone else and they all ate in front of me. I felt good in  my heart but my stomach was threatening mutiny. Yeah, it was worth it!! It went pretty great! I love you guys and pray for you a ton!!!

Well, first off, COLE IS SO BIG NOW!! WHAT HAPPENED?! HE IS A LITTLE MAN!!! And if you want you can tell him to write to me. And the area is doing great, I love the area! It is more or less tiny but I am loving it! It is pretty cool being DL but it is a bit difficult. We have a missionary couple and the elder is serving as branch president. I am their DL but they dont like being told what to do. They are obviously super great and great missionaries, they just want things done their way and none other way. But it is pretty cool!

I prefer Dolores Hidalgo to Leon. Here it is super safe and I know that nothing is going to happen to me here, so dont worry mommacita ;) hahaha but something interesting about my area is that almost everyone we talk to is part of a group called NA  aka neurotics anonymous. It is a real thing and its like AA but instead of a drinking problem, they have a crazy problem! So to say in the least, the people are interesting. But everyone is  super nice, it has that small town charm!!

My companion and I are getting along famously, he is from Argentina and is literally one of the nicest guys I have ever met! We are working hard and found 6 new investigators this week. The funny thing about him is that he is a total wuss about the sun and says that it is burning him as I am walking side by side with him with no problem. So he got permission from president to have a sombrero. It looks very refined. Thats about it.

Queretaro Mexico Mission Week:48

Well, first off, the meeting with Christofferson was legit as heck!!!! He put a lot of emphasis on the Book of Mormon, so it  should be read, needless to say. And about my time on my mission, it has gone by super fast, I can hardly believe I am going to have a year!! And transfers, I got them! I went to a place called Dolores Hidalgo, aka the birthplace of Mexican independence! And with the Mexican independence day coming up fast, this little town is going to be crazy!!!! But I am pretty excited and already really like the area. I am with a short Argentinian named Elder Sivila. He is super funny and chill, so we get along great. I am the District Leader (DL) and senior companion, and here it is a branch. There is a missionary couple, the Flores and the husband is our branch president.

Still dont have the package. But I will be going to Queretaro in 3 weeks and the ZL's in one week. I am kind of nervous of being DL , but not too much.
But about dad's choice of dinner, WHAT?! That looks disgusting Dad ( for winning NCAA bracket, a Chinese buffet was enjoyed by all!) ugh, and I have eaten cooked blood tacos!! But I look forward to a bunch of photos of Cole and Sammy in their sports!

Nothing else, love you guys and miss you!!

Welp, I am doing pretty good, changes will be coming this sunday, but something big is going to be happening!!!! THIS THURSDAY ELDER D TODD CHRISTOFFERSON IS COMING TO THE MISSION!!! OUR MISSION!! It is going to be legit and I am super pumped! It will be pretty sweet! But some bad news about Enrique. He hasn't changed and hasn't left it behind, so we will be dropping him :( pretty suckish. But it will all turn out right. and yeah. Nothing much to report, but I will be praying for Crayton so he can withstand you crazy people.

But all my studies are going great. Everytime that I think I have learned everything about the gospel, something comes up and I realize how little I know. But that is a good thing. Some personal study time has showed me what I need to look for in a wife. You know when Nephi and his brothers are taking Ishmael and all his family to Lehi and they rebel? The one daughter of Ishmael that defends him, using the references at the bottom of the page, is the daughter of Ishmael that he marries!!!!  So something that is important that while I need to defend my wife and protect her with everything I got, she will have to be willing to do the same. That Is true love, what God wants for us. and what everyone of us deserves. Just a freak ton of stuff that is legit like that is what I am learning. So, READ AND STUDY THE SCRIPTURES! THey are the reason this church still exists! so OBVIOUSLY they are pretty important! I am now learning that.

Something legit that happend this week is that I totally caused a car accident with my good looks, NO JOKE!! We were crossing a street and as you know, seeing a blond American is pretty rare here, so everyone stares at me here. As we were passing a car came up to the light and the girl inside just stared at me. She kept looking at me as she moved forward and then crashed with a car ahead of her because she was distracted and smashed the front of her car, all while she was locked on me! I mean, i knew I was good looking guy but come on! ;) hahahahahahaha that was a definite highlight of my mission!!! but nothing else, I love you guys and everything is going good!

Well, as the song goes "IT IS GETTIN SO HOT! I WANNA stay inside my house because it has AC." something like that. Only here AC doesnt exist :P hahaha But everything is going pretty good here, nothing new. Goreti, the younger sister we have been teaching is having some troubles with assisting the church. I kind of understand because the first Sunday that she went was fast sunday with the testimonies and also with a presentation the 3rd hour which was really just the bishopric getting on the case of the members because they werent paying their tithing. She was kind of weirded out.

Something you guys should know about testimony meeting in Mexico is that is a bit weird. Almost all the members are converts and since we are in Mexico, almost all of them are originally catholic, but SUPER catholic. I am not saying that they dont have a testimony, just that one lady got up and start screaming a prayer thanking God for having let her join the true church and saving her soul from the clutches of the devil. This lasted 10 minutes. They all mean well, just that it is very confusing to someone who has never gone before.

Enrique, who was having problems with the cigarette, left it! FINALLY!! WE have 3 official baptisms planned for september! The only problem is that I might not be here to see it through. It would be disappointing but alright. At least they get what God wants for them. Nothing more to report, about the package, i really would just like some handwritten letters telling me how I am going to complete a year. Also the lyrics to "Living on a prayer" WWWWOOOOAAAHHH WE'RE HALFWAY THERE WWWWWWWOOOOAAAAAHHHH LIVIN' ON A PRAYER. It makes a lot more sense to me now that I am on the mission. Also, if you can, 3 musketeers, because that doesnt exist here!! Love you guys and miss you a ton!!
