Well, I will tell you that it has zoomed by, and I do not feel at all like I have 8 months. It is only when I stop and think about all the stuff that has happened on the mission, when I feel old. I see new guys arriving and I remember exactly how they felt. I walked up to a new missionary the other week, Elder Sorensen, that we saw on P Day in the center of the city. I walked up to him from behind grabbed him on his shoulder and whispered "Dame tu dinero" Which is "give me your money". He froze, stopped moving and then I started laughing and he turned around with the biggest relief on his face, it was hilarious! I felt a bit bad  but we all laughed afterwards. I have just started working out with Elder Mays weights and it is doing something at least!!!

Elder May and I are still getting along great, and everyone pretty much is used to us now so no problems there. Now that election time is 6 months away, Mexico is getting pretty hyped up about it. Hundreds of people are just walking the streets with shirts of who they are going to vote for, so we steer way clear of there. We just heard that 2 candidates were killed last week, so it has kind of escalated. The drug cartel thing has calmed down a bit, there are police everywhere now, so they are fully mobilized.

We just went to Costco and Home Depot today and in an effort to eat healthier, We bought a bunch of stuff for salads, and are limiting our food consumption, as I realized that my body was much leaner before the mission. I am still loving it here and am excited for whats still to come. The baptism we had was quite awesome and Manuel (the kid) was very happy. He is from an inactive family, so before we could baptism we wanted to reactivate the family and it was an amazing experience to bring someone to gospel again. And to see it on their faces. We might have another baptism this week, but it is uncertain. We will pray for a miracle!! Love you guys and miss you!!!!

We were the only people on the bus, so why not?

Queretaro Mexico Week 30

Yesterday was Mothers Day.  We got to Skype with Elder Eaton and it was amazing.  He is doing so well and loving his mission.  We are so proud of him and his commitment to his mission.

So as I will be speaking with you guys this upcoming week, I will keep it brief :) This week was pretty good, we have been meeting a lot of new investigators. Literally 2 minutes before we walked in the cyber cafe, we got a contact and we got his address! So we have gotten pretty good at the whole contacting thing. We didn't have the baptism this week which is kind of frustrating. It was something we were really excited for, but the kids dad (who is less active) decided not to take his child to the interview to get baptized. All because there was a soccer game on. He thought that it was more important watching tv. Elder May and I got really mad. But, we can't do much.
Something I have noticed about myself is that I am becoming more impatient with somethings, and am becoming way more direct with the people. So the impatience thing, not good in any way. I have got to improve that. The directness I am kind of liking, not gonna lie. :) hahahaha it is more like I am finally just saying what needs to be said, and I am not scared to do it anymore. Just got to work on the patience. One of the less actives always promises that he will go to church, we teach him really good, and then he doesnt show up. That is when I start getting stressed and frustrated. Now I know what to work on. By now, Elder May and I have applied how everything we learn here in the mission will carry on over to life. So at least I am preparing!!!
Cant wait to talk to you guys, it will be on sunday, what time would be best for you guys? We can skype from about 4:00 and onward (Mexico, Leon time).

So guess what... THE GRINGOS ARE STAYING TOGETHER!!!!!!!!!! We got transfers and we started screaming and dancing like psychotic people and we were so pumped that Elder May forgot to tell the rest of our district they didn't have transfers either, since he's the District leader!!!! hahahahahaha we woke up in the morning with some missed calls and some very angry district members! It was awesome especially for Elder May because he had never had a companion for more than a transfer so I was the First!!

News on our area: We will be having a baptism this weekend and 3 more planned that are almost positively sure this month. We had another investigator but he couldnt get baptized because of some marriage problems. it was pretty sad but I know that he has the testimony of this church and he will wait for as long as it takes, which will be pretty awesome. I am just really excited cuz we just found a freak ton of people the first month and now a lot of them are getting baptized hopefully!!! This transfer has been the greatest of my entire mission, with an awesome companion and the most hard work I have ever done in the mission. I have worked super hard in Cortazar but never like this.

Some more weird contacts have happened during this week. We had one guy that was super drunk come up to us and start wailing about how he wanted to be more like us, tall like Elder May, with our colored eyes, and my hair of "gold". It was kind of sad but we cant exactly help someone who is in a state like that. Another time we were waiting at a bus stop and this guy riding a motorcycle passed by us, took BOTH hands off the motorcycle and pointed at us, and screamed something unintelligible. Then the next second the front wheel jerked to the left, and so he thrust both hands back on the handlebars swerved, narrowly avoiding hitting a car and swerved back to the road (almost colliding with the divider)  and sped off. Elder May and I looked at each other and started busting out laughing! it was pretty memorable!

2)I bought my first and last sandwich from a gas station. It was awful and soggy........but it was food
3) I got a blister and popped it. With my sewing kit. The missionary life is glorious
4) We had just washed all our socks and Elder May realized he didnt have any more. So we made our own drying machine

Hola familia!!!
So this week has been pretty chill to say, the least, nothing crazy has happened and everything is going good. It turns out nothing has happened to us in the past 3 weeks because our investigator Victor (who knows all of Cortazar) got us a bunch of protection, and a lot of people looking out for us on all the street corners, so that is pretty cool. We have been a lot of weird contacts lately. We have stopped trying to make an effort to contact people because every single street someone will stop us and want to talk to us. There are some that we feel kind of iffy about, so when someone comes up to us we each make a personal prayer if we should stay and talk to them or end the conversation. More than once the spirit has told us that we should just leave, so we give them a card with the address of the capilla on it and tell them to attend the church at 10:00.
Then some other contacts have been just weird. One guy stopped us on the street completely drunk and began to cry about how he wanted to have my blond hair and eyes and Elder May´s tallness. I felt really bad for him but we cant teach him anything at all. Overall, this week is just straight up normal and we have found a new family with a less active that lives with them. The dad doesn't want anything to do with us but he said he would love for his family to have religion in their life. Their house is super dirty and we always see cockroaches and mice running around but they are pretty awesome people and super poor. They want more than anything to have a change in their life. And I can't wait for that day :) Love you guys tons and miss you too!!

Well, the good news is that I have not had transfers, thats in 2 weeks! hahaha but I want to stay here so bad with Elder May as my companion. Not only do we get along great, we also work insanely hard! We just had a baptism Saturday of a lady named Virginia. She started bawling as soon as she came up out of the water and me (being me) quickly joined her in sobbing. It was amazing. We all felt the spirit insanely strong and that joy that I felt is at least a fraction of what God feels when we take a huge step towards him. I am sure he cried out of joy too :)
No more muggings. We had a zone conference with the president in which Elder May volunteered us to be the examples on how to contact people. We got torn to shreds of course and my self esteem was at an all time low but I learned a lot!!! We also FINALLY saw Meet the Mormons and I think every missionary was crying at the end when the mom (whos story is so sad but has an awesome ending) says goodbye to her son when he leaves on the mission and just refuses to let him go. That really made me think of mom, which was good, but also super sad too. But I am all good now.
Lots of new investigators and we have also left behind a ton of people. We find a bunch of people, which is actually insanely easy here seeing as how Elder May is 6'3 and I am blond, so we stick out pretty easily. We have a lot of people just coming up to us at the streets and asking us why there are 2 gringos here, so contacting is pretty good now.

1)THey got some fine graffiti here
2)I have officially destroyed my first pair of pants on the mission!!
3)Baptism of Virginia!!
4)We spent a half hour trying to figure out how to fill up the font
5)After we baptized Virginia, We baptized the area too. At least thats how it felt like. All parts were completely submerged so we dont have to do it again
6) We ran out of food, so I improvised and made a cheese sandwich. It was made of Manchester Cheese subsituting the bread, spread with mayonaise, turkey inbetween, with a delicate spread of ketchup in the center. It tasted awful but it was food

Hola familia!!
Well, first off, It looks like Cole is officially taller than me, almost glad I am in Mexico for this moment. But he does look insanely ripped to shreds. Easter here was super weird. They had a "Holy Week" so everyone was on vacation all week. It honestly didn't hit me that it was Easter unitl the second session of Sunday conference!! Halfway through, it just hit me and I just thought Wow. I am in Mexico.

But As for conference, my favorite one, as you might have guessed, was Boyd K Packers, when he said "A kiss and a cookie. That sounded pretty good to me". Now that I am on a mission, I am understanding way more what marriage will be like. I am super grateful for your guys example of really how a marriage should be, supporting each other even when you are kind of angry and frustrated with your bratty kids, but just loving us a bunch, so thanks for that. I know I have a year and a half to go, but that talk kind of mentally slapped me in the face, seeing as how I am that kind of guy. But, also it helped me to really have a direction in mind to lead our investigators who aren't married or who are struggling. It is very rare that people here in Mexico are married, so it kind of gives me a base to go for.

I watched Saturday general conference in english, and then watched Sunday in spanish. Sunday general conference was awesome when the Members of the Quoroum of the Seventy talked in Spanish! And then Uchtdorf got up and went German on everyone! The spanish translators that were translating everything to spanish didn't know what to say and started laughing when he realized he was talking in German, so that was awesome! That has been my week and also I forgot my camera, so no photos, sorry!! But i love you guys and miss you tons!!

Star child
PS can you tell Brother Robbins we also listened to the Portuguese speaker in Portuguese in an attempt to see if we could understand it. We got the gist of it, but really Portuguese is just really bad Spanish

Leon is pretty awesome!! It is also known as the city where everything is made out of leather and it is all super cheap! To put it to the test, I went and bought dress shoes from a Flexi Factory and a nice belt. It was about $50, so yeah, not too shabby. We have two for sure baptisms this month, possibly another one, but that one we are not too sure about. Ill be sure to take pictures with them to send to you. The people here are generally nice and a lot of people here know english, so out of nowhere, a bunch of people start coming up to us and talking in broken english, so that is pretty fun.
Something weird that happened is that we are teaching a pastor of another church. He is not of any religion, he just decided to start his own church and yeah. The entire time I was just thinking of how fast he would be shut down if he was in the USA. We will probably be dropping him this week but we are finding a bunch of people too. We contacted a guy on the street and he asked if he could be baptized BUT stay a catholic. We explained why he couldn't and invited him to church. We honestly didnt expect him to come, but there he was, at the sacrament meeting and the first two hours!! In gospel principles we quickly realized how confused this guy was, because everytime he had a question he ranted for about 5 minutes and we are pretty sure he was a bit drugged, so we have work to do.
Elder May and I are still getting along great, just as you would expect. It was his birthday saturday so we ate a crap ton of costco chocolate cake and watched church movies, so it was pretty fun. We still have a bunch of food and I think we would be alright in the zombie appocalypse right now!! But I did get Grandma's package, so that was legit, we used all the party decorations for Elder May, so that was so awesome!! It was a great week. I bought a camera too! Love you guys, peace out
